I am pissed and in pain!!!!
I am pissed and in pain!!!! Just wasted our time and money to go to the emergency room.I went to the er tonight for severe back pain, swelling in hands and feet and high blood pressure that was giving me a terrible headache. I gave a list of all my medications to the triage nurse before getting in a room where i lied down with the lights down b/c of my pain. Dr.Robert breving came in turned on the lights and asked what the problem was while holding my chart,he then proceeded to ask me to stand up my husband offered me his hand an the dr. said no dont help her,he then asked me to look up/down,sside/side then he asked me to jump up and down to which i sai no because im in pain and my blood pressures all over the place. he then orders urinalysis and bloodwork not sure why. He never examined my back or swelling. A nurse came in with a norco for my pain which I reported to be a 10 an hour and a half beforehand. Then Dr Brevis came in told me i have a virus and to drink plenty of fluids and left the room. Enter nurse with 2 prescriptions one for 15 norcos and one for my bloodpressure, which was on the page she was holding as a medication i take daily anyways! Did they even look at my chart and list of currennt meds?!He couldve killed me by just writing them without looking at my meds. Then when i got upset and cried b/c i felt I was not being listened to or treated for what I came for the dr.says" well what do you think you have? Would you like me to do a spinal tap?" Then he left the room the nurse came in with my norco prescription and info to take home on viruses such as the common cold and upper respiratory problems. None of which i had symptoms of nor was i complaining of anything close to that.

4 days to my lap band seminar!
Sooooooo, 4 days from now is the beginning of my new life. The seminar is not on option although I'd attend even if it were. All I have done for the past year is research my options, especially the lap band and now my journey is FINALLY about to begin! I recently was diagnosed with high blood pressure and possible polycystic ovary syndrome and thats it I refuse to have one more illness due to being obese. I'm starting this today at 246 lbs, I am 5ft5in tall and have a bmi of 41.3. My measurements are as follows: Bicep=14 in, waist= 50in, hips= 51in, thigh= 27in. My goal/healthy weight is 135, so over 100 lbs to lose folks, no small task. I am planning on joining the gym asap after surgery and recovery and walk/running the walk from obesity for the OAC (obesity action coalition), please come out and join me, there is a walk in 70 cities and if it's not near you,you can sponsor one for your town/city! Good night all :) Heres the link for the oac------> OAC

Fibromyalgia, an overview
Definition
By Mayo Clinic staffFibromyalgia is a disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain accompanied by fatigue, sleep, memory and mood issues. Researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies painful sensations by affecting the way your brain processes pain signals.
Symptoms sometimes begin after a physical trauma, surgery, infection or significant psychological stress. In other cases, symptoms gradually accumulate over time with no single triggering event.
Women are much more likely to develop fibromyalgia than are men. Many people who have fibromyalgia also have tension headaches, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety and depression.
While there is no cure for fibromyalgia, a variety of medications can help control symptoms. Exercise, relaxation and stress-reduction measures also may help.
Symptoms
The pain associated with fibromyalgia often is described as a constant dull ache, typically arising from muscles. To be considered widespread, the pain must occur on both sides of your body and above and below your waist.
Fibromyalgia is characterized by additional pain when firm pressure is applied to specific areas of your body, called tender points. Tender point locations include:
- Back of the head
- Between shoulder blades
- Top of shoulders
- Front sides of neck
- Upper chest
- Outer elbows
- Upper hips
- Sides of hips
- Inner knees
Coexisting conditionsMany people who have fibromyalgia also may have:
- Fatigue
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Endometriosis
- Headaches
- Irritable bowel syndrome
Causes
By Mayo Clinic staffDoctors don't know what causes fibromyalgia, but it most likely involves a variety of factors working together. These may include:
- Genetics. Because fibromyalgia tends to run in families, there may be certain genetic mutations that may make you more susceptible to developing the disorder.
- Infections. Some illnesses appear to trigger or aggravate fibromyalgia.
- Physical or emotional trauma. Post-traumatic stress disorder has been linked to fibromyalgia.
Researchers believe repeated nerve stimulation causes the brains of people with fibromyalgia to change. This change involves an abnormal increase in levels of certain chemicals in the brain that signal pain (neurotransmitters). In addition, the brain's pain receptors seem to develop a sort of memory of the pain and become more sensitive, meaning they can overreact to pain signals.
fibromyalgia and mommyhood
I have had fibromyalgia for years and didn't know it, I was diagnosed about a year ago and it was amazing to put a name to this pain that held me prisoner in my own body! I have a child who is now 17 months old and there are definite challenges in being a mommy with this disease. From fatigue,to depression/anxiety, to extreme pain and all the other fibro treats (dripping with sarcasm) that come along with it it's not easy to say the very least. I gained about 100 lbs during my pregnancy which if you have this devil of a disease you know that pretty much sucks. Not only is it EXTREMELY hard to stick to a workout routine due to flareups, but working out in general just plain hurts. This is my first of many to come so i hope i will have some readers who face these issues also.
